Nuclear Risks and Realities: Nonproliferation in a Shifting Global Order

Nuclear Risks and Realities: Nonproliferation in a Shifting Global Order

Virtual, Members-only Briefing

Wednesday, August 6, 2025 | 6:00 – 7:15 PM EDT

The recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities have called into question the strength of nuclear nonproliferation efforts, with some critics arguing that the strikes may accelerate progress for other would-be-nuclear-armed countries. As nuclear tensions rise across the Middle East and arms control frameworks unravel globally, how can policymakers contain proliferation and prevent conflict?

Join us on Wednesday, August 6, 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM ET for a conversation with Kelsey Davenport, Director for Nonproliferation Policy at the Arms Control Association, as she unpacks the challenges facing the global nonproliferation regime. From Iran’s nuclear program to shifting alliances and weakened international agreements, Ms. Davenport will discuss what’s at stake, what options remain, and how diplomacy can adapt in this new and uncertain era.*
