Deep Dives: China 2022

DEEP DIVES: CHINA 2022

GO BEHIND THE SCENES ON ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST SIGNIFICANT AND COMPLEX COUNTRIES

About the Program

The goal of Network 20/20’s Deep Dives is to provide multi-layered and informative discussions encompassing a critical topic in geopolitics–in this case the rise of China–through a series of briefings with high-level experts. Over the course of six dynamic in-person sessions followed by private dinners with each speaker, the hand-picked participants will have the unique opportunity to learn about China’s diplomacy, history, culture, economy, and more. Using the framing question, “How would widening the lens of understanding about China impact U.S. policy toward Beijing?”, participants will have the opportunity to refine their thinking by injecting nuances into their understanding of this vitally important country.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR PAST PARTICIPANTS

Kristen Kaufmann
Deputy Commissioner of International Affairs at the New York City Mayor’s Office for International Affairs

“The Network 20/20 Deep Dives program on China was an extremely useful, informative, and enriching experience. It covered everything from Chinese culture to ancient history, to modern-day foreign policy, weaving everything together to give the participants a thorough and thoughtful insight into what drives Chinese foreign policy. The program was extremely politically balanced in terms of the presenters, including those with widely differing viewpoints. The small, intimate sessions were often held in private apartments, and it was wonderful to get to know and create bonds with the others.  I highly recommend this program for anyone who has an interest in learning more about this space.”

Arlette Laurent
Former Charge d’affaires of the EU Delegation to the UN

“The extensive coverage from 5000 years to today, from the Arts to the Art of War was a tour de force with an impressive array of scholars and practicioners- their variety as well as that of the attendees made this experience a particularly rewarding one.
No matter how objective one thinks one is, in fact some of my a priori assumptions (diplomacy/military/academia) were questionned. The other personal note is that, as much as I learned about China, I also acquired a better perception of the US and of Americans’ attitude to China- whether via the speakers or the other attendees.”
