Dinner Reception with Sweden’s Consul General

In-person, Members-only

Tuesday, November 17, 2026 | 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM ET

Join us on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM ET as part of our Diplomatic Discussion Series for a special conversation with Erik Ullenhag, Québec’s Delegate General in New York.

*Priority access for Premier Members

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine fundamentally remade European security and is one of the wedges in the strained Transatlantic relationship. Sweden, having joined NATO is 2024, has emerged as a leader in European security in addition to its longstanding role in innovation and environment. It is increasing its defense spending, deepening its security ties, and pressing the EU to take a firmer line on Russia. At the same time, uncertainty over America’s commitments to Europe and instability in the Middle East are straining a transatlantic partnership that Swedish security policy has long treated as its foundation.

What role does Sweden see itself playing within Europe and on the global stage? How might Stockholm’s relationship with Washington play out at this critical moment? And with a war still raging on the European continent and conflict spiraling in the Middle East, how does a seasoned diplomat with experience in Jordan and Israel, as well as within Sweden’s domestic politics, view the prospect for stability?
