A Global Spring: Trends to Look For in a Post-Pandemic World

Tuesday, March 28, 2023 | 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM ET

The pandemic crisis has wrought devastation around the world. The world after COVID-19 is unlikely to return to the world that was, with the political, economic, and social consequences of the pandemic further impacted by war, technology, and climate crises. What are some potential global risks that we need to pay attention to in the years ahead? Conversely, where do we see the opportunities arise? Join us for an exclusive IN-PERSON briefing with Professor in the MA International Relations Program at New York University, Dr. Maha Hosain Aziz, on Tuesday, March 28 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM ET where she will discuss these questions which figure in her upcoming book, “A Global Spring.” Dr. Aziz has been called a “global thinker to watch” by Nouriel Roubini, CEO of Roubini Macro Associates and NYU Stern Professor of Economics; and an “engaged scholar activist” by Dr. Parag Khanna, author of Connectography (2016), Future Is Asian (2019), and Move (2021). Her first book, seven-time award-winning bestseller FUTURE WORLD ORDER, was also called a “must-read” according to Dr. Ian Bremmer, Founder of Eurasia Group; and Kishore Mahbubani, author of Has the West Lost It? (2018) and Founding Dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

About “A GLOBAL SPRING: Predictions for a Post-Pandemic World”

This is the sequel to NYU professor and World Economic Forum risk expert Dr. Maha Hosain Aziz’s bestselling and seven-time award-winning book FUTURE WORLD ORDER (2019/2020) which explained the global risks that defined the 2010s and will shape the 2020s – what she calls a “global legitimacy crisis”. In her 2022 book, A GLOBAL SPRING, Dr. Aziz offers more predictions for how our geopolitics, politics, economies and societies will evolve – but in the post-pandemic era which is also shaped by war, technology and the climate crisis. She argues we are headed for more civilian unrest, i.e. a “global spring”, as citizens grow more frustrated with governments that simply fall short of expectation. Yet this will also create more opportunities for other influencers like the nonstate actor (e.g. the activist, the tech billionaire, the entrepreneur) to fill the gap and reshape our future world order this decade.
