Mustafa Riffat is the Managing Director, Chief of Staff of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). Mustafa is also responsible for GIP’s Corporate Affairs function on a global basis and oversees communications, brand, marketing and government affairs for the firm.
He serves as the primary spokesperson for GIP, advising its’ senior leaders and business groups as well as companies across GIP’s global portfolio.
Prior to joining GIP, he was an Executive Vice President at Edelman, where he advised clients across all areas of communications, with extensive experience in corporate reputation, complex issues and crisis, capital markets, sustainability and profile-raising matters. He joined Edelman after seven years at the Brunswick Group. Previously, Mustafa was an investment banker at Citi and Nomura. He has a record of strategically positioning companies and their leaders to optimize their brand and relationships with key stakeholders including employees, investors, customers, governments and the media.
He received a BA with a major in Economics and concentration in Middle East and Asian Languages and Culture from Columbia University, as well as an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Mustafa is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Economic Club of New York and a member of Chatham House.
