Gillian Sorensen has had a long career with the United Nations including ten years as Assistant Secretary-General and as Special Adviser for Public Policy. She has worked with hundreds of diplomats and NGOs committed to peace, justice, development, refugee support and human rights. Earlier, she was the NYC Commissioner for the UN and Consular Corps. She is a graduate of Smith College and has twice been a Fellow at Harvard. She is a member of the Board of the International Rescue Committee. A New York Times profile referred to her as “The Diplomat’s Diplomat.”
